ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) - Anchorage police have identified a man who nearly drowned in Lake Hood.

Police say the man has been identified as 18-year-old Jimmy Paul James. He remains unconscious and in critical condition but his family is with him.

Police just before 10 a.m. Saturday received a report of a man struggling in the lake near Wisconsin Street and Lakeshore Drive.

Police and fire department responders pulled the man out. He was resuscitated at a hospital.

The man was at first identified as a man in his 30s or 40, then Monday as a man in his mid- to late-20s. Police say they couldn’t issue a photograph of the stricken man because of decency and privacy concerns.
