SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) - Authorities say a 5-year-old child nearly drowned in floodwaters caused by heavy rains at a park in Sioux Falls.

Authorities say the child was playing early Sunday night at Spencer Park and fell into temporary pond. The child was completely submerged and pulled from the water and given CPR by a citizen.

Police say when officers arrived, the child was alert and crying. The child was transported to a hospital and was listed in stable condition.
