ST. LOUIS (AP) - A long-planned subway station at a Central West End research park in St. Louis remains on hold due to the expected unavailability of state money targeted for the project.

A MetroLink station at the Cortex research park has been on the books since 2006. The state Legislature has approved $11 million in bonds to build the station, but the St. Louis Post-Dispatch (bit.ly/1iB2QTl ) reports that another newly passed state law limits the use of the needed bond money to repair and maintenance projects rather than new construction.

Lagging state revenue is also jeopardizing the Cortex mass transit plan and other approved construction projects such as a new State Historical Society building in Columbia and a new medical school at the University of Missouri-Kansas City.
