CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) - A school health professional development seminar is being held this week in Charleston.

The 2013 Kidstrong Conference is set for Tuesday and Wednesday at the Charleston Civic Center.

The conference is aimed at school administrators, teachers, nurses, counselors, school-based health staff and public health specialists.

The local health department will offer updated immunizations to participants.

Officials who are part of efforts to improve educational, economic and social opportunities in McDowell County are set to speak at the conference Tuesday.

The conference is organized by the state departments of Education and Health and Human Resources, Marshall University’s medical school and the West Virginia Immunization Network.
