ELKO, Nev. (AP) - Elko police are investigating the death of a homeless man who apparently was run over by a train.

Police Lt. Ty Trouten told the Elko Daily Free Press on Monday (https://tinyurl.com/o3dg2l3) the unidentified transient was hit by a train passing through town Friday night.

Trouten says the man apparently was alive when the train hit him and it does not appear to have been a suicide.

He says witnesses reported that he apparently had laid down on the tracks and passed out, but had awaken just as the train approached.
