INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - Gov. Mike Pence is hosting a panel of national experts to talk about the interaction of families and the economy.

The governor’s “Summit on the Family and the Economy” will run throughout the day Tuesday at the Indiana State Library. Pence policy director Ryan Streeter and others will address the issue.

Pence has frequently argued that increasing the number of families led by one man and one woman would improve the state’s economy.

But the governor’s social policies have often crossed with gay marriage supporters in Indiana.

Pence asked lawmakers to approve a constitutional ban on gay marriage in his state of the state address earlier this year and supported language in the Republican Party platform that defines marriage as being between one man and one woman.
