CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (AP) - University of Illinois President Bob Easter has announced most employees will be getting pay raises that average 2.5 percent this summer.

According to The News-Gazette in Champaign (https://bit.ly/1pByVlf ), the merit-based salary program calls for raises to be awarded in August.

Easter said in an email to employees on Monday that the range of raises will depend on performance and union contracts.

Raises the past couple of years have been in the 2.5 to 3 percent range. University employees did not get raises in 2010 or 2011.
