FORT COLLINS, Colo. (AP) - Fort Collins’ first licensed seller of recreational marijuana plans to open on Friday.

The Fort Collins Coloradoan reports (https://tinyurl.com/o5ox6ad ) Organic Alternatives got its city license on June 13 after the city lifted a temporary ban on such businesses.

Fort Collins has nearly a dozen medical marijuana dispensaries, but Organic Alternatives is the only business that has obtained its retail license from the state

The state license is separate from the local license. Both are required.

At least one licensed marijuana retailer is operating in Larimer County outside Fort Collins. It opened in April.

Colorado voters legalized retail marijuana sales statewide effective Jan. 1, but municipalities can opt out.
