SEATTLE (AP) - The Seattle Storm have hired Alisha Valavanis as their chief operating officer, replacing outgoing team president and CEO Karen Bryant.

Seattle announced the hiring Wednesday. She’ll take over for Bryant who is stepping down on July 31 after being with the franchise since its inception.

Valavanis has been the assistant athletic director for annual giving and alumni relations at California since 2011. Prior to her time at Cal, Valavanis worked for the Golden State Warriors and was the associate head coach at Division II Chico State, where she played college basketball in the late 1990s.
