CLEARWATER, Fla. (AP) - A Tampa Bay area man has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for a fatal hit-and-run crash.

A Pinellas County judge sentenced 29-year-old Lenoris Leaks on Tuesday. He had pleaded guilty to leaving the scene of a crash involving death, fleeing and eluding, vehicular homicide, possession of cocaine, driving with a suspended or revoked license and battery on a law enforcement officer.

Authorities say Leads was driving a Ford Mustang just before midnight one night in September 2011 when a St. Petersburg police officer tried to pull him over. Leaks sped off, eventually running a stop sign and hitting a car driven by Edward Guzenski. Leaks abandoned the car and ran away, but detectives traced the vehicle back to a family member.

The Tampa Tribune ( ) reports that Guzenski was seriously injured in the crash and died four months later.
