LAS VEGAS (AP) - A 27-year-old Las Vegas man has pleaded not guilty to murder in what prosecutors say was the beating death of his girlfriend.
Edward H. Edgerton is accused of fatally injuring 24-year-old Tyanna Reynolds in an argument March 15 at their apartment on Nellis Boulevard.
Edgerton told police that he and Reynolds argued about text messages she received from an ex-boyfriend, and that she collapsed in the shower.
Edgerton said he grabbed Reynolds’ arm, struck her several times with a belt and pinned her beneath him on the bed.
Reynolds was pronounced dead later at a hospital.
Edgerton told police the two used to beat each other with a belt as relationship discipline.
Senior Clark County District Court Judge Nancy Becker scheduled trial for April 20, 2015.
