WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) - Natural resources officials say the swinging bridge in Brandywine Park in Wilmington will close for renovations and upgrades.

Officials with the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control said Friday that the bridge, built in 1909, will close Monday for as long as three months.

The bridge crosses Brandywine Creek and connects the Northern Delaware Greenway Trail and South Park Drive.

Officials say rotting planks and aging hardware have made the bridge unsafe. Renovations will include new timber decking and metal hardware, plus cleaning and painting.
