SELMA, Ala. (AP) - Filming for the movie “Selma” is scheduled in Selma next week.

Casting director Cynthia Stillwell tells the Selma Times-Journal (https://bit.ly/1uHjEgR ) that extras are being fitted for their costumes this week, and work should begin Monday in Selma.

Production designer Mark Friedberg says much of the work will be around the Edmund Pettus Bridge, where voting rights marchers were beaten in 1965.

The movie is about civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr., including his role in the voting rights march from Selma to Montgomery. The movie crew is due in Selma after filming in Atlanta this week. Filming is also planned in Montgomery.
