ST. ALBANS, Vt. (AP) - Unlike other Vermont communities, the population of St. Albans is growing and is in need of more space at its Town Hall and parking garage.

Officials say the town’s population was nearly 6,000 in the 2010 U.S. Census. That’s a 12.6 percent increase from the last census. And projections say the population is going to keep growing, reaching over 9,300 by 2060.

Vermont Public Radio reports (https://bit.ly/1nSqUFI) the Town Hall is running out of space in its vault and the town garage is at capacity. The Town Hall itself does not comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act.

A study done for the town recommends renovations to Town Hall, move parking to a more central location, and make some upgrades to the fire station.
