FLORENCE, Ala. (AP) - Authorities have arrested a northwest Alabama woman they say left her sister-in-law on the floor for about a month.

A Lauderdale County jail spokeswoman tells Al.com (https://bit.ly/UsycpI ) that 58-year-old Maria Ann Springer Lindsey of Killen faces charges of elder abuse and neglect and was being held on $5,000 bond. It wasn’t immediately clear whether Lindsey had a lawyer.

Court records show Lindsey is accused of leaving 57-year-old Pamela Springer on the floor after Springer fell in their home in early April. Records say Lindsey called 911 after four weeks. Springer was taken to a hospital, where she died Wednesday.

An incident report says Springer had urine and fecal matter on her and had open sores. Lindsey told authorities she fed Springer and that Springer told her not to call help.
