ATLANTA (AP) - Atlanta police say an officer shot a man while investigating suspected drug activity.

Sgt. Gregory Lyon tells The Atlanta-Journal Constitution officers have obtained warrants to arrest Desmond Hunter on charges of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, theft by receiving stolen property, felony obstruction and carrying a weapon without a license

According to local media reports, the shooting happened around 7 p.m. Friday after two officers approached a group of people to ask about suspected drug activity.

Police say a physical struggle broke out between an officer and a man with a gun. Police say officers used a stun gun on the man before shooting him.

Police said the man was in stable condition at a hospital.

The officers involved are on administrative leave while the investigation continues.
