FORSYTH, Ga. (AP) - Authorities in Monroe County say an escaped inmate was captured after a group of hunters discovered him.

The hunters called authorities, and deputies arrested James Douglas Kelly without incident shortly after 5.p.m. Friday. He was taken to the Department of Corrections State Diagnostic Center in Jackson.

The Telegraph newspaper in Macon reports (https://bit.ly/SZM893 ) that Kelly escaped Wednesday while on work detail. The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release that the hunters found him under a covered shed at a camp near Tobesofkee Creek eating hotdogs and drinking alcohol.

Kelly was in prison serving a sentence for burglary and obstruction of a law enforcement officer. He was arrested about five miles from the Georgia Public Safety Training Center property he escaped from.
