HEMINGWAY, S.C. (AP) - The Williamsburg County community of Hemingway is celebrating its 100th birthday with a daylong party.

Public officials will gather Saturday at the campground in the town of about 500 people where there will be a presentation on the history of Hemingway, music by Hemingway native Ty Curtis and recognition of residents who are 85 and older.

The morning events are being followed by a picnic and a birthday party.

In the evening at the town Recreation Complex, there’s a community cookout put on by local churches and other organizations. There will also be dancing with a music provided by a disc jockey as well as a fireworks display.
