STORRS, Conn. (AP) - A program designed to help children explore the outdoors is holding its final event with a campout.

The event takes place Saturday at the University of Connecticut campus in Storrs. It’s the 9th annual Great Park Pursuit Finale, part of the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection’s No Child Left Inside Program.

The event includes activities and games during the day and a campout with bonfire, storytelling and songs during the evening.

During the seven-week program, families follow clues and travel from one state park to another for a day of fun in the outdoors.

This year families learned to fish, helped clean up state parks, visited interpretive centers, hiked along trails and paths in the woods and canoed on a river.
