FORT LEE, N.J. (AP) - Police have identified a man who left his car on the George Washington Bridge and leaped to his death more than a week ago.

A spokesman for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey police department says the body of 49-year-old Harold Olivares of the Bronx was discovered this week.

Olivares is believed to be the person who left a 1998 Taurus parked on the westbound upper level of the bridge early on the morning of June 12.

That was around the same time that two tractor-trailers headed in the opposite direction on the upper deck crashed, leaving one trucker dead. The accident snarled traffic throughout the morning commute at the region’s busiest bridge.
