NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - The Nashville Predators will open the first season of Peter Laviolette’s coaching tenure Oct. 9 with a home game against the Ottawa Senators.

This represents only the second time in the past seven years that the Predators will open the season at Bridgestone Arena. They’re hosting an Eastern Conference team in the opener for the first time since facing the Florida Panthers in the franchise’s inaugural game on Oct. 10, 1998.

The Predators hired Laviolette last month after firing Barry Trotz, who had been the only coach in franchise history.

After hosting Ottawa in their season opener, the Predators have two more home games Oct. 11 and Oct. 14 before their first road trip.

Although the season opener was announced Saturday, the Predators’ entire schedule won’t be released until Sunday.
