BEAUFORT, N.C. (AP) - A fire has destroyed a Carteret County fire station and several trucks inside.

Authorities said the North River Volunteer Fire Station near Beaufort caught fire around 5:30 a.m. Sunday. Firefighters in the station couldn’t get their equipment out and had to wait for firefighters from other stations to respond.

All the trucks and equipment inside were destroyed, but no one was injured.

Investigators are trying to figure out what started the fire.
