KODIAK, Alaska (AP) - The Kodiak Island Borough Assembly has approved almost $400,000 in funding to nonprofit organizations.

KMXT (https://is.gd/OgJBOP) reports the funding approved Thursday will be included in the fiscal year 2015 budget.

The money will go in varying amounts to 17 nonprofit groups.

A new application process was introduced last year for funding nonprofits with borough money.

Some organizations missed out on funding because of late or incomplete applications.
