ANGIER, N.C. (AP) - Troopers say a 21-year-old man on a motorcycle was going about 100 mph when he crashed into a tree in Johnston County.

The Highway Patrol told WRAL-TV (https://bit.ly/1jHzX80 ) that the impact of Saturday afternoon’s crash was so violent that Richard Green’s helmet and shoes were knocked off.

Troopers say Green was passing cars in a no passing zone in Angier when he lost control of the motorcycle and hit a tree.

Investigators say the motorcycle did not belong to Green and he did not have its registration.
