WARWICK, R.I. (AP) - State officials have identified a 57-year-old man who died after falling off a boat in Narragansett Bay near Patience Island.

Department of Environmental Management officials say David Hall of Warwick appeared to have drowned by accident Saturday night. Authorities say he fell off a 24-foot motorboat anchored north of Patience Island near Warwick Point.

Warwick firefighters responded to the scene and found Hall’s body in the water.

It’s not clear what happened. The DEM is investigating.

DEM officials also rescued four people in a different boating accident in Narragansett Bay on Saturday night. Authorities say the boat struck a navigational aid off Portsmouth.

Officials say three of the four people were taken to a hospital with minor injuries. DEM officers are investigating whether alcohol played a role in the accident.
