BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) - The Erie County Sheriff’s Office says a boater was selling cocaine on the water.

Deputies arrested the 32-year-old man and six other people after stopping the boat for speeding near the Erie Basin Marina and finding 18 bags of cocaine totaling a half ounce on board.

Melvin Ward was being held at the county jail Friday pending his arraignment on charges of criminal possession and possession with intent to sell. It’s unknown whether he has a lawyer.

The six others on board face possession charges.
