NEWARK, N.J. (AP) - It was a week ago Sunday that a fast-moving fire killed six members of one New Jersey family.

Hundreds of friends and relatives gathered Saturday at Solid Rock church in Irvington to remember husband-and-wife Salome and Reginald Stewart, who were killed in the fire along with two of Salome’s daughters and two of her grandsons.

The Essex County prosecutor’s office says all six victims died of smoke inhalation, and three of them also had signs of carbon monoxide inhalation.

The Star-Ledger reports (https://bit.ly/1jHzxP1 ) family members paused in front of four silver caskets and two urns at the service, which focused on the family’s Caribbean roots and Christian faith.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Prosecutors say plastic floral decorations around the home may have acted as an accelerant.
