LAWRENCE, Mass. (AP) - A Massachusetts woman is detained without bail after police say she stabbed her lover and set a fire in Lawrence that left three families homeless.

Police charged 34-year-old Yohanna Estrella with assault with intent to commit murder, arson and other crimes in connection with the stabbing of her 38-year-old girlfriend and the fire at an apartment building on Haverhill Street early Saturday morning.

The victim’s name hasn’t been released. Police say she is being treated at Lawrence General Hospital for a stab wound to her abdomen and is expected to survive.

Three firefighters who were injured battling the blaze have been released from a hospital.

The American Red Cross says it’s helping five adults who lived in three apartments in the building.

It’s not clear if Estrella has a lawyer.
