ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - Bernalillo County Sheriff’s officials say one person has died after two vehicles collided in the North Valley area.

Sheriff’s spokesman Aaron Williamson says a SUV north on 2nd Street near Ranchitos Road around 7:30 a.m. was hit by a Chevy pickup while attempting a left turn.

Williamson says the male driver of the SUV died at the scene.

The man driving the pickup was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

Williamson says alcohol and speed don’t appear to be factors.

Investigators temporarily closed part of 2nd Street but reopened it shortly before 11:30 a.m.

The identity of the victim was not released pending notification of next of kin.
