PHOENIX (AP) - Authorities say two men were injured after a wrong-way crash on a Phoenix freeway.

Arizona Department of Public Safety officials say a sedan was traveling south in northbound lanes on State Route 143 when it collided with another sedan.

DPS spokesman Raul Garcia says both drivers were hospitalized with serious injuries.

Garcia says the driver going the wrong direction had been driving with a license that was suspended due to a previous DUI.

The crash led to SR 143 from Interstate 10 and Broadway Road being shut down for several hours.

Investigators are looking into whether impairment was a factor. The identities of the drivers were not released.

Seven people were killed last month as the result of three wrong-way crashes on major Phoenix freeways.
