SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) - The California Highway Patrol has arrested fourteen people who were outside the state Capitol Sunday night protesting the influence of money from corporations and the wealthy in politics.

A spokesman for the group 99Rise says all protesters were released from jail Monday morning.

A spokesman for the CHP, which oversees security in and near the Capitol, says the protesters were arrested for unlawful assembly and failure to obey orders. Officer Sean Kennedy says the group had a permit to protest until 6 p.m. but was still there five hours later.

The group is pushing lawmakers to vote on bills calling for stronger federal campaign finance laws. On Monday, the Senate voted 33-11 in favor of AJR1, a resolution calling for a constitutional amendment saying campaign money is not speech.
