BELLE FOURCHE, S.D. (AP) - A South Dakota county is asking for a federal emergency declaration because of flooding.

The Black Hills Pioneer reports (https://bit.ly/1syLmAF) that the Butte County commission approved the resolution in hopes it will be reimbursed for search and rescue work and repairs to county roads, bridges and culverts.

County officials say it will take a month to six weeks to make all the repairs from the damage caused by last week’s flood.
