SALEM, N.H. (AP) - A man charged with assaulting a New Hampshire police officer, taking his cruiser and threatening to shoot officers over the weekend has been jailed on $500,000 bail.

WMUR-TV (https://bit.ly/1qtn3jr ) reports 52-year-old Robert Zygarowski of Ellwood City, Pennsylvania, told a judge Monday that he is bipolar.

But prosecutors said he has a long criminal history and should be considered dangerous.

Police say Zygarowski, who was zapped with a stun gun during a traffic stop early Saturday, yanked out the barbs, assaulted the officer and fled into Massachusetts.

He was eventually arrested in New Hampshire.

It wasn’t immediately known if he had a lawyer.
