DETROIT (AP) - Hundreds of thousands of people are expected to check out an annual international fireworks show over the Detroit River.

The 56th annual Ford Fireworks event is scheduled for Monday night. It’s produced by the Parade Company and celebrates the July 4 U.S. Independence Day and Canada Day on July 1.

Revelers are expected to pack various riverfront spots in Detroit as well as in Windsor, Ontario.

This year’s show is to feature more than 10,000 pyrotechnic effects visible for miles along the Detroit River.

It’s being choreographed by Patrick Brault, who has designed fireworks displays internationally, including at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, British Columbia.
