PLEASANT GARDEN, N.C. (AP) - Guilford County sheriff’s deputies say an officer has shot and killed a man near Pleasant Garden.

Deputies were called to a domestic dispute shortly before 3 p.m. Sunday. Deputies said a woman said her husband had fired at least one shot and barricaded himself in a shed behind his home.

Deputies said the man was 45-year-old Ray Junior Barber.

Deputies talked to Barber but the battery on his cellphone died. Deputies say as they tried to give him a new phone, he started walking toward his house and pointed a gun at the officers, one of whom then fired.

Barber died Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro shortly before 7 p.m.
