MILFORD, Conn. (AP) - An Ansonia man is facing a potential life prison sentence for a fatal shooting outside a bar in Derby that authorities say was related to a drug gang dispute.

Twenty-six-year-old Cordaryl Silva is scheduled to be sentenced Tuesday in Milford Superior Court for the killing of 22-year-old Javon Zimmerman. A jury convicted Silva of murder in April.

Silva shot Zimmerman outside R.J.’s Cafe in Derby in May 2012.

Silva claimed Zimmerman’s family is a drug gang and was responsible for three shootings including two killings. Silva had ranted on Facebook that the Zimmermans weren’t funding the prison commissary account of his half-brother, who’s in prison for the nonfatal shooting.

Silva testified that someone else he would not name shot Zimmerman.
