CHICAGO (AP) - The daughter of boxing great Muhammad Ali is joining the fight against gang and gun violence in Chicago.

Rasheda Ali-Walsh is scheduled to appear at a workout Monday at the Celtic Boxing Club on Chicago’s South Side.

According to a spokesman for the club, Ali-Walsh will announce a charity boxing exhibition that will raise money for youth programs and scholarships. The exhibition is scheduled for Thursday.

Ali-Walsh’s cousin was shot and killed in Chicago in 1997.

In a statement, she says: “We all need to do more to put a stop to the violence and to show our young people that there is a peaceful and productive way out.”
