RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) - Orville the tortoise has turned 108.

Theodore Roosevelt was president of the United States and the Chicago Cubs were in the World Series when the 375-pound Aldabra tortoise was born. He’s currently on display at Reptile Gardens in the Rapid City area.

The Rapid City Journal reports (https://bit.ly/1jJ1BBN) that Orville celebrated his birthday Sunday by sunbathing and eating watermelon. Museum spokesman John Brockelsby says watermelon to a tortoise is like eating ice cream.

Reptile Gardens obtained the turtle last year from a private collector in Florida.

Orville still has a ways to go to break the record. The oldest tortoise at the South Dakota tourist attraction lived to be nearly 130.
