GRANDIN, N.D. (AP) - The North Dakota Highway Patrol says distracted driving likely contributed to a crash that killed a man who was riding his bicycle.

The accident killed 50-year-old David Hawkinson, of West Fargo.

The patrol says Hawkinson was riding his bike on Highway 81 north of Grandin Saturday morning when a pickup came up from behind at a “higher rate of speed” and hit him.

Hawkinson was thrown from the bike.
