PLEASANTVILLE, N.J. (AP) - Pleasantville residents are remembering former mayor and police chief Ralph Peterson.

The 81-year-old’s funeral will take place Monday at Mount Zion Baptist Church.

Relatives and friends turned out for a procession on Sunday as the hearse carrying Peterson’s coffin drove by City Hall.

The city’s first black mayor and police chief served for 50 years and died on June 12.

Juanita Habron tells The Press of Atlantic City (https://bit.ly/1liYDbF ) Peterson always had a smile on his face.
