RUSSELLTON, Pa. (AP) - Police say a man found injured near some railroad tracks in western Pennsylvania might have been hit by a passing freight train.

Police in West Deer Township still were not releasing the name of the man Monday as they investigated what happened to him before he was found about 5:30 a.m. Sunday.

That’s when police say a Canadian National Railroad engineer spotted the man lying next to the tracks and stopped to call emergency crews.

Police say the man had a serious cut on the back of his head and was flown to a Pittsburgh hospital.

Police aren’t sure whether the man was hit by an earlier train or was injured some other way.
