SACO, Maine (AP) - Saco, Maine, police say they have charged a 45-year-old man with leaving the scene of a crash that sent an 87-year-old woman to the hospital.

The Portland Press Herald (https://bit.ly/1pEvgBO ) reports police say they have charged Leo Paul Bedard of Saco with leaving the scene of an accident. The accident sent Jewell Friedman to the hospital in critical condition.

Police say Friedman was walking her dog on Saturday when a pickup truck hit her near the corner of Ferry Road and Ocean Greens Drive and then drove off.

A call to Bedard’s home was not immediately returned Monday.

The Press Herald says Friedman remained in critical condition at a hospital Monday morning.
