WAUSEON, Ohio (AP) - Police say a propane tank exploded in the basement of a northwest Ohio home, leaving an owner seriously burned and four more people with lesser injuries.

The explosion happened late Monday afternoon at a house in Wauseon (WAW’-see-ahn), about 30 miles west of Toledo.

Police Chief Keith Torbet tells The Blade in Toledo (https://bit.ly/TpBsB8 ) that the man who suffered the most serious injuries was in the basement when the explosion occurred. He was flown to a hospital.

Torbet says two children from the home were taken by ambulance for medical checks. He says two more adults in the home refused medical treatment.

The home was heavily damaged. Debris also damaged a neighboring Masonic lodge.
