BRUNSWICK, Ohio (AP) - The National Weather Service has confirmed a tornado touched down in northeastern Ohio as strong storms moved across the state, damaging at least 10 homes.

The weather service says a high EF1 or EF2 tornado touched down Monday evening in Brunswick, about 30 miles southwest of Cleveland.

Several homes suffered significant damage and are uninhabitable.

The weather service says crews will complete their damage assessment Tuesday.

Brunswick police say no one was injured. Officers went house to house to make sure everyone was OK.

Police say a shelter has been set up at the Brunswick Recreation Center for displaced residents.
