PORTO ALEGRE, Brazil (AP) - Defender Joseph Yobo will become the first Nigerian to win 100 caps if he is picked for the World Cup Group F decider against Argentina on Wednesday.

Yobo says ensuring Nigeria makes the last 16 is his focus and not the personal record.

He said Monday in a statement from the Nigeria Football Federation that the milestone was “good news” but “what is uppermost in my mind is for the team to win and for us to advance to the next stage. The rest will be a bonus.”

Nigeria needs a draw against Argentina to be certain of progressing but will also go through if Iran fails to beat Bosnia in the other Group F game.

Yobo faces competition for a starting place from fit-again Godfrey Oboabona.
