ROCK SPRINGS, Wyo. (AP) - Sweetwater County School District 1 is looking at its options as a high school and junior high get close to their capacities.

The Rock Springs Rocket -Miner reported Tuesday (https://tinyurl.com/mbb4ovb ) the possibilities include expanding or replacing the existing schools or building additional schools.

Rock Springs High School is expected to reach its capacity of 1,400 students in the next academic year. Rock Springs Junior High is expected to have about 815 students, 50 short of its capacity.

At a meeting Monday, school board members were told the district expects to have nearly 1,300 junior high students by 2013, and putting all of them on a single campus could be a problem.

Officials say traffic congestion is a significant problem at the high school.
