GOLDEN POND, Ky. (AP) - Bugs, turtles, snakes and bats will be available for people to see up close at Cool & Crawly Critters Day at Land Between The Lakes National Recreation Area next month.

The event at Woodlands Nature Station goes from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. CDT July 12. Admission is $5 for ages 5 and up or free for anyone 4 or younger. Lunch will be available to buy.

Live animal programs and exhibits will be available in addition to kids’ games, crafts, visits from Smokey Bear and other animal-inspired activities. More information is available on the Nature Station page at https://www.landbetweenthelakes.us .

The animals and the people who study them will visit from the University of Kentucky, Murray State University and Austin Peay State University.

Land Between The Lakes manages more than 170,000 acres in western Kentucky and Tennessee.
