BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) - Bismarck water customers have only a few days left to submit claims for a partial reimbursement of the cost of thawing frozen service lines in their properties.

City officials say claims must be filed before July 1 for work completed no earlier than December 2013.

The Bismarck City Commission in April approved to share the cost of thawing water service lines after some customers had to hire local contractors to do the job during the winter.

Officials say the cost of thawing lines to restore service has been burdensome to many residents.

The commission agreed that pay up to half of the cost to thaw the pipes and make it retroactive to Jan. 1. The commission capped the city’s share per property at $1,000.
