CHICAGO (AP) - A defrocked Catholic priest and convicted child molester has pleaded not guilty to new sexual abuse charges.

Daniel McCormack entered the plea Monday in Cook County court to three counts of felony aggravated criminal sexual abuse. Authorities say the charges stem from a 2005 incident that involved a boy participating in an after-school program at St. Agatha parish in Chicago. McCormack was denied bond in May.

McCormack’s attorney, Daniel Coyne, has said the former priest is receiving treatment, suffers from a mental disorder and is a “sexually violent person.”

McCormack pleaded guilty in 2007 to abusing five children and was sentenced to five years in prison. He was removed from the priesthood.
