PORTLAND, Maine (AP) - The Maine Association of Realtors says Maine single-family home sales increased by 7.25 percent in May.

The association says 1,302 homes changed hands in May. Realtors report that median sales price dipped 4.79 percent to $169,950 in the past 12 months.

Maine’s home sales differ from nationwide trends. The nationwide median sales price increased 4.9 percent to $213,600 from a year ago while sales decreased 5.7 percent.

Maine Association of Realtors President Angelia Levesque says she expects volume of sales to increase with summer here. She cites “high inventory levels” in some parts of the state for keeping prices down.

The state’s highest median sales price was in Cumberland County at $235,000. Lowest was in Somerset at $74,500.
